Esther Tadesse was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. She studied psychology at York University which is where she fell in love with the topic of Mental Health. Since she was a young girl she always dreamed of becoming a writer. She wanted to share words of wisdom, creative writing, and so much more, like her literary idols. In May of 2017 she created a blog page called The Diary of a Goddess where she combined her passion for writing with her interest for mental health. In under a year, her blog’s Instagram page grew exponentially. I had a chance to sit down with Esther and ask her some of her secrets to growing her following organically, and so quickly!
1. How long have you had your brand online, and how long has it taken you to get your current number of followers?
I’ve had my blog for just under a year. I officially launched the website and the Instagram on May 31, 2017. Since then I’ve gained close to 20K followers.
Esther has 19.1k followers (and growing) as of May 3, 2018.
2. How important do you feel it is to be consistently active on your social media?
I think it’s important to be on social media daily if you’re planning to grow your presence on it. Consistency is key.
3. How important do you think social media is for your brand and why?
As a writer in today’s world, so many pieces of work can be accessed online. I knew if I wanted to build an audience for my brand that I’d need a high presence on social media. I’ve always loved Instagram because of its simplicity and directness. You post something and someone either likes it or doesn’t. It’s quite amazing. I’m open to other platforms as my brand grows, as of now, Instagram is doing the job!
4. What have been your favourite parts of being on Instagram?
My favourite part of being on Instagram is connecting with strangers all over the world who have the same interests [as] me. It’s a beautiful time we live in because I can positively influence someone I’ve never even met.
Esther uses her account to consistently spread positivity.
5. Any social media tips for someone looking to increase their followers organically?
My advice to anyone looking to grow their followers organically is remain consistent. Network with other accounts that have similar objectives as yours. Lastly, don’t give up!
