Helping Your Organization's Marketing Success for 2018

It has always been my goal to create value for people. So I started this year thinking, how can I add more value to people looking for marketing? By creating this new blog for starters! In this blog you will find articles providing tips for your organization’s marketing, guest blog posts, and interviews.

One of the things that stuck out to me for the start of this year is that, according to Insivia, viewers retain 95% of a message when they watch it in a video compared to 10% when reading it in a text.

So what’s my first tip for you to start the New Year? Get the camera rolling! Video is great because you can use it in so many ways. Whether posting it on your social media pages, or on your website, a video done right will help draw in your audience!

Three other trends/tips that I thought to share are:

Create Live Videos

You may have heard about this, but if you haven’t already – adding live video to your social media arsenal can be a great asset to your marketing strategy. Platforms like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter all offer live video options. Live video, for instance, can take the form of Q&As or streaming live events.

Engage with Your Audience

Social media is one of the most important marketing strategies for companies and a big part is engagement. The engagement that I am referring to is liking people's comments under your posts, and responding to their comments, and where you can, liking and commenting on other user's posts. Engagement can also take place via Direct Messaging (DMs). Engagement shouldn’t just be considered a trend, but a mandate for your organization. Think of engagement like a segment of your customer service and a part of your brand's image. Yes, in some cases you may be engaging with strangers, but these ‘strangers’ could be your next clients! How you interact with people online can have an impact on your brand – and potential sales. Which reminds me, although I encourage online engagement, avoid engaging with trolls. In other words, don’t get into a ‘Twitter beef’ because that can have an adverse effect on your brand.

Be a Storyteller

I once posted, “The story is what’s going to get people excited” – Blake Mycoskie.

I later followed up that post with, "Marketing is no longer about the stuff that you make, but about the stories you tell." – Seth Godin.

These were some of my earliest posts on Instagram, and a notion that I have tried to stick with throughout my career. Be a storyteller. Create content that will draw your audience in and stay consistent by posting regularly. Practice makes perfect; the more you get used to telling stories the better your storytelling will become.

Your digital and online presence is so important for your brand. So if you haven’t already, make that a major part of your focus for 2018 (and beyond).
